So I've been meaning ...

to post this question to the blog buds out there ... people, I need your help!

What do people think is a generation --- 20 years, 25, 30? Ya know, like when someone says, "In a generation the technology will become ubiquitous ... yadda yadda" --- what's the time period that consists of a generation?

If I had to guess I would say 25 ... but that's just me.

Generation? Um, it's hard to figure out. I was generation X, I think anyways. The new generation is generation M whatever the hell that means. So society must see it as 20 years.

I'd say personally 25.

I was born in 83, what generation was that?

I would personally say progress sets the pace. The faster we progress, the more benchmarks we achieve, so the easier it makes it to discern one "generation" from the next.

I've always heard (in psych classes and such) that a generation is 22 years. BUT. Everyone knows that psych classes are crap, so, what's that worth?

A generation is the time it takes a person to start complaining about new music not being as good as the music they like.

LOL then it's 20 years. Cause I'm starting to feel old and listen to stuff that's OLD SCHOOL. Oh shit that makes me giggle.

Wow, what a great question. I would think V's standard is a decent benchmark. Which is interesting, since people 25 years apart do not feel connected when the issue of age is brought into play.

But major social and political events shape the generational divisions.

But on a different note: Gen X thru Y Rules!!! The word is still out on Z!!

Lol, Ryan!

I have no idea how long a generation was. When I was younger I always thought 75 years, but then realized I was confusing "generation" with "life expectancy."

I was born in '83, too! w00t.
