The Green Mile

I'm a big fan of magical realism because like Fox Mulder ... I want to believe.

I finally caught THE GREEN MILE on tv the other day and it was a magical viewing. Yeah, the film is syrupy and don't expect Shakespeare but it is definitely the type of feel good flick most of us need every now and then. And while the story is old-fashioned and glacially paced, the superb cast is a delight to keep one company.

I wouldn't recommend making a concerted effort to track down a copy, but if you're not doing much one evening and this charming film comes along ... you won't be disappointed.

My wife thought this movie somehow creepy, so I gladly annoyed her for weeks after by looking at her sullenly while saying, "give me yo hands, boss." To my surprise, this never got me laid like I thought it would.

i enjoyed the movie even with it's flaws. It certainly deals with many issues still alive today: race, inequalities in the criminal justice system, people who strive to live responsibility and people who abuse their position of power.

Although I am against capital punishment, I thought the idea of showing most of the guards being both responsible and humane and taking their job seriously was a plus--with the exception of the one "saddistic" character who, in a very syrupy way, got his just desserts.

I liked this movie a ton which is kind of odd considering I read the books first.

Stephen King seems to be money when it comes to movies set in prisons.

I wasn't the world's biggest fan of the movie, however, I loved reading the books. Thought it v. cool that SK initially released the book in serial form, like they used to do in magazines in the 30s & 40s. I eagerly awaited each installment...

Yes. I am that much of a dork. And proud of it beeeatch.

Hey, V, have you ever wached the movie "K-Pax" with Kevin Spacey? It's kinda that same magical realism or something.

My friends always laugh that I love that movie, but you might like it, too.

It's a long movie. I've seen parts of it and am quite happy with that.

First I read the books. The books were in fact the first time Stephen King tried to do the whole chapter series thing. I was not happy. However, I really did like this movie, when I finally had the chance to see it. I would rent it again, MAYBE buy it.
